Theresa Anne “Terry” O’Loughlin, died unexpectedly at home in Providence RI on May 11, 2019. Her beloved, four-legged canine friend, Seamus, who was her closest companion for 11 years, died with her. Terry was born on April 6, 1964, in Haverhill MA to Frances M. (Peg) O’Loughlin and the late James F. O’Loughlin.

Terry was brought up in Westford MA, graduated with honors from Westford Academy in 1982, and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science, Suma Cum Laude, in Computer Science from the University of Lowell (MA). Terry started her working career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in 1987 and stayed in the computer programming field until she decided to pursue her passion for cooking and baking. After graduation from the Johnson and Wales University Culinary Arts program in 1996, she took to making beautiful cakes to order, including numerous themed, family-birthday celebration cakes.

Terry began her 19-year career with Home Depot in Providence RI in March of 2000, rising to the position of Expediter (Customer Order Specialist) where her detail-oriented, problem solving skills were well utilized. Terry had a love of music, playing numerous instruments including: guitar, fiddle, French horn, piano, bass drum (in marching band, no less! ), snare drum and percussion, trumpet, penny whistle, and even tuba (a tight fit in a VW beetle).

Pretty good for the kid who did not like her first instrument – a clarinet with the detested reed! Her singing voice was beautiful and she enjoyed duets with her sister as well as performing for many years in an all-female, a cappella group in Providence called “Women RIsing”. She was also an accomplished stained glass artist, creating numerous, one-of-a-kind works for her family and friends.

She loved travelling, venturing west to San Francisco CA; south to New Jersey, Virginia and Florida; north to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine; east across the Atlantic to Ireland (3 times); and recently enjoyed a “double-bookend-sisters” trip to Scotland. Her numerous trips to Block Island RI were some of her favorite family times. Terry is survived by her mother, Peg O’Loughlin of West Springfield MA; a sister, Sharon Gage and husband Keith Gage of West Springfield MA; a brother, Michael O’Loughlin and wife Michelle O’Loughlin of West Deptford NJ and her nieces and nephews: Renee Bouldin, Alyssa O’Loughlin, J.B. Gage, Emily O’Loughlin, Aidan O’Loughlin, Maggie Gage, Sydney O’Loughlin, Kendall O’Loughlin, and Hope Gage.

She will be missed by her extended family, many friends in Providence including Nancy Rosenberg, and her numerous friends and coworkers at Home Depot especially Mike Walsh and Sully Calderon. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick, RI. Burial will be on Block Island at the convenience of the family.
