Theresa Marie Dagostino Rizzo, born on July 8, 1926 in Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on December 12, 2018. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Theresa was a woman of great wit, intelligence and love for all those around her. She valued a life spent sitting around a table with those she cared about, telling stories about her family and her lifetime of experiences, of which there were many, while enjoying the best Italian food she could make or find.

Theresa lived a life filled with love, travel, and fabulous experiences. She prided herself on being able to take her family around the globe and pass down traditions and important lessons, all of which her family will never forget. Theresa was a hard worker who was passionate about the careers she had for nearly 75 years.

While she worked for the City of Stamford as part of the Board of Education for almost 30 years, she felt her true calling and professional passion was in tax preparation for H&R Block, where she worked for nearly 50 years. Theresa felt that doing taxes was her way of helping people and giving back, which was validated by the clients who came to consider her family after she did their taxes for many years. Daughter of the late Marianna Aruzza Dagostino and Dominick Dagostino, both Italian immigrants, Theresa was proud of her Italian heritage and visited the country many times throughout her life.

Few things brought her greater joy than to visit family across the Atlantic, introduce her children and grandchildren to their roots, and speak the Italian language with anyone who would listen. Theresa was, unfortunately, preceded in death by her wonderful son, Ernie D. Rizzo, her loving and devoted husband, Gino L. Rizzo, and her devoted daughter, Irma M. Rizzo. Theresa was also predeceased by her brothers, Frank Dagostino and Edward Dagostino.

Theresa will be sorely and deeply missed by her daughter, Marianne Rizzo Gutierrez; her grandchildren, Nicole Luisa Gutierrez and Christopher Ernest Gutierrez; her sister, Georgianna Cesarelli; her brother Michael Dagostino and his wife MaryJane; and the rest of her loving family and friends who will cherish her memory forever. A wake will be held on Tuesday, December 18th from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19th at 10:30am at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902.

The interment will follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien. Donations in Theresa’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or online at www. stjude.org.

Theresa’s funeral arrangements were made with Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford, CT. If you’d like to leave an online message of condolence please visit the family guestbook on bosakfuneralhome.com or on facebook.com/bosakfuneralhome.
