Obituary for Thomas E. “Tom” Gressett Thomas Earl “Tom” Gressett was born August 27, 1922, in Winters to Phillip Allen and Willie (Connor) Gressett. Tom was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Army from age 20 to 23. He met Joyce Cherry and knew she was the girl he wanted to marry.

They were wed September 25, 1948 in Amarillo. Shortly after their marriage, Joyce and Tom went to Canada where he was working in the oil field. They decided to return to the ‘States’ because he was not interested in the cold weather.

They moved to Comanche in 1960, making 58 years of living in the area. Tom worked as a truck driver for a while but was a farmer more than 40 years. Tom is survived by his son, Harold Gressett; his grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joyce; parents, P.A. and Willie Gressett; brothers, Roscoe, Jim, Clinton, Phillip, Connor, and George; sisters, Pearl Hall and Winnie Fowler.
