Obituary for Thomas Ford Thomas “Tom” Francis Ford, 77 of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Fort Dodge Villa Care. Services will be held at Gunderson Funeral Chapel on Monday October 8 at 3pm with a visitation from 1-3pm prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Thomas Ford, the son of Joseph and Camilla (Lappe) Ford, was born July 23, 1941 in Bancroft, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Bancroft, graduating from St. John’s Catholic School. After his schooling, he entered the military and served in Germany.

He was honorably discharged July 31, 1965. Upon return, he made his home in Fort Dodge IA, where he married Calista Dankbar and raised 3 children. They later divorced.

He was joined in matrimony to Sharon Smith (Reed) on June 5, 1999. They have been happily married for over 19 years. He was employed at Canteen Vending Services before his employment with Celotex Gypsum Plant where he worked for 34 years until he retired in 2002.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Sharon Ford; children, Michael Ford of Boise, ID, Kim (Darrin) Courtney of Boise, ID and Carey (Melissa) Ford of Omaha, NE; his siblings, Jane Clark of Talahasse, FL, Jim (Karen) Ford of Rogers, MN, and David Ford of Bozeman, MT. His children were from a previous marriage to Calista (Dankbar) Manning of Monticello, MN. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Jade, Hayden, Chelsea and Madison.
