Obituary for Thomas P. Dierkes Dierkes, Thomas P. It is with great sorrow, we announce that on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, Tom, father of nine children, passed away in his sleep at the age of 87. Tom was born on January 17, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph G. and Anna McIntyre Dierkes. Tom is one of six siblings, Bob, Bette, Mary, Helen and Jim.
Tom graduated with a business degree from St. Benedict College in Atchison, KS in 1953. While in Atchison, Tom met Dorothy (Dottie) McClintic and they were wed on May 29, 1953 at Immaculate Conception in Hannibal, MO. After college, Tom served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps for 27 months and honorably discharged in 1955.
Tom was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus counsel 10646. Tom work as an executive at The Montgomery Ward Company until his retirement in 1989. During his time at Montgomery Ward, Tom and Dottie expanded their family and called many places home over time which included VA, CA, MO, TX, IL, before finally settling in Rowlett, TX.
After retirement, Tom and Dottie explored the United States with month long road trips. Between trips, Tom (Pops to the grand-kids) enjoyed giving his grandchildren a hard time. Tom was a dearly loved man of deep faith and convictions, and his passion and care will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and church.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and his son Msgr. Rick. Tom is survived by his wife Dottie; son Tom & wife Beth and their five children & nine grandchildren, son Bill & wife Maureen and their three children & four grandchildren; daughter Deborah and her four children and 11 grandchildren; daughter Teri Treece & husband Greg and their four children & seven grandchildren; daughter Becky McKeever and her two daughters; son John and his daughter; son Tim & wife Dee and their two children; son David & wife Donna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary Service will be said on Thursday October 11, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3905 Hickox Dr., Rowlett, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM; followed later by a private interment at the Dallas Forth Worth National Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rowlett or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
