Thomas Richard Brock January 14, 1928 – February 22, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Thomas Richard Brock, Sr. also known as “Biggie” in his younger days, was born on January 14, 1928 at home at 29 W. 99th Street, to the late George and Pearl Brock. Thomas lived and attended school in New York City. In 1957, he met Eudine H. Brock and in December of 1958 they married, from this union came three sons, Thomas Jr., Gordon and David.

Lester Scott, Eudine’s son from her previous marriage rounded out the family. He served proudly in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged. He worked for and retired from the US Postal Service as Postmaster.

He also worked and retired from the NYS Court Services as Head Court Clerk. Thomas loved his life, his family and his friends. He liked helping them and his door was always open to them.

He was a huge fan of music, jazz in particular. Thomas also had a deep passion for deep sea fishing for Sea Bass and Porgies. Occasionally he could be coerced into playing a tune on the upright piano in their home.

But he was happiest sitting at the head of the kitchen table; where one usually met him upon entering the house. Thomas was a longtime member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church where he faithfully served as Warden of the Vestry, as well as Vestry Person. He was also a devoted member of the Men’s Guild.

He transitioned peacefully to be with The Lord on February 22, 2019. He is preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Eudine; his brother, George; sons, Thomas Jr, (Tommy), Gordon (Gordy) and Lester; his great grandson, Jasiah McDowell; and his best friend, Eddie Welch. He leaves to mourn: one son, David Sr. (Patricia); sister-in-law, Vivienne Scott (Josiefus); one nephew, Oscar Scott; two nieces, Harriette and Aurelia (Lionel); two grandsons, David Jr. and Joshua Mangum; six granddaughters, Celeste Scott, Atara James, Victoria Brock, Chantal Brock, Samiyah Miles, and Ashely Miles; one great grandchildren, adopted daughter, Sharon Quinn; goddaughter, Cynthia Payne; and a host of family, friends and the Congregation of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

This is what The Lord asks of you, only this to act justly, to love tenderly and work humbly with your God.
