Thomas “Tommy” Gene Shelton November 03, 1953 – February 04, 2019 Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Thomas “Tommy” Gene Shelton, 65, Peculiar, MO died Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Tommy was born November 3, 1953 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Billy G. and Bonnie (Hale) Shelton.

He married Pam Grantham on July 31, 1982 in Kansas City, MO. He had lived in Kansas City before moving to Peculiar where he had lived for the past 18 years. Tommy worked for Central, Burry & Viking Truck Line in Kansas City, MO for 35 years before retiring in 2011 Tom’s early years were spent racing at KCIR, the hill climbs in Holt, MO, and many family and friend weekends at Chadwick Motorcycle Park.

He and Pam enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Stockton Lake, where Tommy also loved to hunt and fish. In the last few years Tommy’s passion was spending time with his family at the sand drags, where he served as the chief mechanic and supporter for his sons and grandsons. The racing community will miss his talent and sense of humor!

Tommy’s love for his kids and grandkids was paramount in his life. Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Billy Shelton, his mother, Bonnie Daniels, and one sister, LaDonna Kendall. He is survived by his wife, Pam, of the home; two sons, Shane Shelton (Donna) and Ronnie Shelton, all of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Jessica Shelton, Harrisonville, MO; three sisters, Marie Kruger (Dave), Peoria, IL, LeJean Hobbs (David), Ash Grove, MO, and Alona Bennett (Mark), Springfield, MO, and four grandchildren, Jacob and Shane Nay, Hunter Shelton, and Kayleigh Jo Shelton.

Papa’s time was cut way to short with his granddaughter, Kayleigh; the love they had for each other was amazing. Luckily, he had so much more time with his older grandsons. He will be so missed by everyone whose life he touched.
