Thomas Vafeades, 74, of Spring City, PA, died on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Phoenixville Hospital. Born on September 16, 1943 in Pottsville and raised in Mahanoy City he was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Alexiades) Vafeades. He was a tool maker and retired from Kensey/Nash in Exton, PA.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling and he played softball for may years in local leagues. He is survived by his loving companion Maureen McClure; three sons: James Vafeades, Paul Vafeades, Christopher Vafeades; 2 Grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas; and sister, Ann Barlas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, PA on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev.

Charles O’Hara officiating. A viewing will be held in the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery, Morea Street, Mahanoy City, PA on Wednesday at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
