Thursa Lautenschlager, 81, beloved wife of 57 years to Rev. Paul Lautenschlager, of 213 Pine Haven Ct. , Seneca, SC, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown.

Mrs. Lautenschlager was the daughter of the late John Frederick Trabert and Thursa Regina Bell Trabert of Wheeling, West Virginia. Mrs. Lautenschlager was a nursing professor at Baltimore County Community Colleges (Catonville Campus) for twenty-three years. She graduated with her R.N. in 1958 from Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

She went on to receive a B.S. degree from Ohio State University and a M.S. with doctoral studies from the University of Maryland. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Alpha Tau Delta, from whom awarded her with the Nursing Leadership Award during her senior year. While at the University of Maryland, she received a behavioral science researching and nursing research award.

In addition, she was awarded the Ruth Spencer Dunfee Nursing Excellence Award from the University of Maryland in 1996. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lautenschlager is survived by her son: Joel Leslie Lautenschlager (Dawn); twin granddaughters: Hannah Belle and Aubrey Louis of Severna Park, Maryland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lautenschlager was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Eternal Shepherd Lutheran Church with private burial to follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eternal Shepherd Lutheran Church, 220 Carson Road, Seneca, SC 29678 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital via www. stjude.org/donate.
