He was doing what he loved working on the farm. Friends may call at Ss.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sherrill, IA on Friday, January 25 from 2 PM to 8 PM, where a Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 26 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow In the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Father Noah Diehm will be officiating. Services are entrusted to Hoffmann-Schneider, and Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Tim was born on August 7, 1963 in Dubuque, IA to Martin and Norma Jean (Oberfoell) Hammerand.
He married Lynne Schultz on July 9, 1983. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1982 and has worked with his father on the family’s dairy farm since his early childhood. Tim now works on the farm with his son Derek, who will carry on the legacy of what is River View Holsteins Farms.
Tim shared his love of the Chicago Cubs with his mother and was thrilled to see them win the World Series. He is also an avid sports fan with his love extending to the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Tim enjoyed playing cards especially his bi-monthly poker games with his friends.
He enjoyed playing darts, which he did for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping, where he always enjoyed the annual Hammerand camp out where Tim enjoyed not showering for days at a time. Tim was a devoted family man and loved to play jokes and pull pranks on anyone he cared about.
His grandchildren were his heart and soul and he loved to do things on the farm with them any chance he got. Tim was an avid softball player in his younger years where he would slide into the base to keep things interesting. In Tim’s memory the family requests everyone to go and have a Holstein Highball.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife Lynne, his children, Beth (Tommy) Schmitt of Dubuque, Jennifer Hammerand, and Derek Hammerand, also of Dubuque. Cherished grandfather of Ethan and Madeline Schmitt and Akaela Hammerand. Brother of Doug (Chris) Hammerand of Carlisle, IA, Vickie (Brian) Hein of Durant, IA, and Amy Gregorie of North Liberty, IA.
Also survived by his mother-in-law Sharon Schultz of Dubuque and his brother-in-law Rick (Kelli) Schultz of Sherrill, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-in law, Laura Schmitt and Chrissy Schultz, his paternal grandparents, John and Velma Hammerand, and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Ida Oberfoell.
