Obituary for Tom Mudd Owensboro—Tom Mudd, age 82, of Owensboro, passed away on January 6, 2019. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Frances Cox Mudd Owensboro—Tom Mudd, age 82, of Owensboro, passed away on January 6, 2019. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Frances Cox Mudd and Francis Earl Mudd.
He was a graduate of Stonehill College in North Easton, Massachusetts and earned his Master’s Degree from Kent School of Social Work. He was retired from a 43-year career as a social worker for the State of Kentucky, the Mental Health Center in Corbin, Kentucky, River Valley Behavioral Health and the Wendell Foster Campus. He and Anne Mudd were instrumental in bringing Weight Watchers to Western Kentucky in 1970 which they guided and nurtured for the next 4 years.
In retirement, he worked as a care giver. He was active in the Catholic community and a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. , was a Guardian for 7 residents at Wendell Foster’s Campus and an active volunteer with Theatre Workshop of Owensboro.
Tom was regularly involved in health programs at OMHS’s Health Park. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for those in need, his caring demeanor and his own brand of craziness. He is survived by his three wonderful and talented children, Jennifer (Donnie, Jr.) Brey of Philpot, Kentucky, Andy (Diana) Mudd of Castle Rock, Colorado and Katie Oborski of Owensboro, Kentucky, 6 beautiful grandchildren, Jonathan and Jenna Brey, Kaylee Latchaw, Molly Oborski, Viola and Emilio Mudd.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and again Friday from 8 to 9 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Funeral services will be at 9 on Friday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Prayers will be at 7:30 Thursday.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville Kentucky. Mr. Mudd has expressly requested that money not be spent on flower arrangements and should you wish to make an expression of sympathy that it take the form of contributions to Wendell Foster’s Campus or Theater Workshop of Owensboro both facilities whom he dearly loved.
