The Rev. Tomás Rodríguez Matos, aged 97 years, resident of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 13th, 2018. He was born on Friday, January 14th, 1921 in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

Youngest Son to Romana Matos. Veteran of the US Army during WWII. Pastor for 55 years prior to his retirement in 2001.

He planted churches in Puerto Rico, Chicago and Miami. He was an avid singer, guitarist, bookworm and lover of the Nation of Israel. He played with Tato Diaz of the famous quartet “Los Hispanos” of Puerto Rico.

He had a passion for music, to the point that he was the guitarist in every church he Pastored. Rev. Rodríguez was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Carmen Peña.

He’s survived by his only daughter, Pastor Maribel Garcia and his Son in-law, Rev. David Garcia. His grandchildren Mo, Glenda, Belmarie Rodriguez and Ramon Nevarez; His greatgrandchildren Jonathan, Sarai, Emmanuel, Esther, Isabel, Josué, Adamaris, Maribel and Leah.

He was BLESSED to see his 4th Generation, His Great greatgrandchildren Elías, Jacob and Khalid. Memorial contributions will be directed to the Family Please make checks out to Glendalee Rodriguez.
