Tommie Jo Kraus, 58, passed away at 4:55am Sunday, July 15, 2018 in St. Joseph Regional Med Center. Tommie was born on September 3, 1959 to Edward and Edith (Wheaton) Kraus in LaPorte, lN. He was brother to: Mrs. Tami (Steve) Shaffer of LaPorte, lN; Mrs. Linda (Kelly) Taulbee of Fish Lake, lN; Mrs. Melissa (Scott) Strand of LaPorte, lN; Sandra L. Kraus of LaPorte, lN; Mr. Dan (Nerva) Kraus of Michigan City, lN; Mr. Ed (Janis) Kraus, Jr. of Michigan City, lN; Mr. Ron (Shirley) Kraus of LaPorte, lN; and Mr. Dave Kraus of LaPorte, lN.

Tommie lived with his family until he was almost 7 years old. He then lived in several facilities until he was able to live in the community with the help of a variety of services. Most recently, Starline services helped him to remain as independent as possible while at his home in South Bend.

He attended day programming at LOGAN Center where he made many friends. He enjoyed listening to music (especially Country music), one on one time with people nearby, cool breezes, and relaxing at home with his 2 housemates. He will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, July 20, 2018 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Viewing will take place from 10:00am until services in the funeral home.
