Tommy Alan Brewster October 11, 1955 – February 09, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries Tommy Alan Brewster passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the age of 63 at the home of his son, Michael, in his company and presence. After graduating high school in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1973, Tom moved to Houston, Texas where he met his wonderful bride of 40 years, Julia R. Amelang. Tommy then attended Southwest Texas State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Tom then went on to work for his father-in-law, Karl Amelang, in commercial real estate development. In 2004, after a successful 22-year career, he moved his family to Burton, Texas, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city in exchange for the quiet and peaceful country life. Tommy is best remembered for his selfless servanthood, always willing to help anyone, any time, any place.

Tommy served as Chairman of the Deacons and taught middle and high school boys’ Sunday school classes through November of 2016. He then went on to serve in other ways such as being an active member of the Rotary Club of Washington County, Chairman of the board at Citadel Christian School and President of the Washington County Men’s Bowling League, always seeking ways to help others leading up to his passing. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family as well as keeping his 20 acres in such pristine condition, you could pick a patch of grass and have a picnic, no blanket necessary.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marjorie Brewster. He is survived by his lovely wife, Julia; their eldest son, Christopher, his wife, Megan, their sons, Christopher Jr., Braeden and Gunner, and another child expected August 2019; Julia and Tom’s youngest son, Michael Brewster, his wife, Dixie, along with their child expected in May 2019. He is also survived by his siblings, Connie Szymanski of Arizona, Beverly Dirrim of Arizona and Jerry Brewster of Kansas.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend services at Memorial Oaks Chapel located at 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas on Saturday, February 16th at 1 pm. Viewing will be from noon to 1 pm Saturday before the service. Reception to follow at 2:15 p.m. Grave site service will be shortly after the reception.

Optional viewing times will be 8am to 7pm Friday February 15th at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tommy’s name may be directed to Citadel Christian School, at 2111 South Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Texas 77833. To post a tribute to the family, visit www.
