Torina’s Obituary Torina Jierell Cook, 63, departed our earthly home peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Huntersville, NC. She transitioned surrounded by her family. She was born on December 7, 1955 in New York City to the late Carl and Carol White.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Carl Linden White, Jr. “Tina” as she was lovingly called, grew up in “Spanish” Harlem where she attended public school. After moving to Laurelton, Queens, Tina attended Andrew Jackson High School and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from York College, City University of NY. With her passion for young children, Tina started “Torina’s Daycare” where she nurtured and educated children for over 15 years.

She also held positions as Assistant Director of Childcare for Bank of America in Charlotte and Director at University Child Development Center – Highland Creek. Tina was a lover of music and gifted singer and songwriter. She served faithfully on the Praise and Worship Team at Christian Life Center in Brooklyn, NY.

She went on later to serve at New Birth Charlotte with the Community Groups, Counseling Ministry and eventually trained in Ministry School. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Larry Cook; sons Sean Jenard Dorsey and Chad Linden Cook of Huntersville; daughter Carlae Larina Cook; sister Tracey White; nieces Nécole Robinson, Brandy James and Michelle Hairston; great nephew Mason Hairston, and great niece Brielle Noemi James; in addition to a host of extended family and friends. Along with flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (www.

npcf. us/donate-volunteer/ways-to-donate/donate/). Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 12:00 PM. The Home going Celebration will follow at 1:00 PM at Life Center International (11301 Granite St., Charlotte, NC). Interment to immediately follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens, 11001 Alexandriana Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.
