Obituary for Troy Carter Troy Lee Carter, age 68, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018. Troy was born February 7, 1950 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Orby and Willease (Deering) Carter. He was a member of the Taft Church of Christ where he serverd as Elder.

He was a lifetime farmer, which he loved. He was also co-owner of Carter Brothers Logging with his brother, Donnie. Most of all, he was a loving family man who always put their needs above his own.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Taft Church of Christ, with Eugene Bray and Daniel Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, April 16th after 3:30pm and again Tuesday morning, from 10am until the time of the service at 12 noon, at the church.

Troy is survived by his wife, Janice White Carter, who he would have be married to for 50 years this coming May 4th. One daughter, Dana Bray and husband Eugene. Two grandchildren, Daniel Bray and Kaleigh Bray.

Two brothers, Keith Carter of Sparta and Donnie Carter of Sparta. Two sisters, Pat Cravens and husband Donnie of Sparta; Glenda Phillips and husband Rodger of Algood. Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Orby and Willease (Deering) Carter; his father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia (Gilbert) White; his garndparents, Lee and Clarsie (Cash) Deering and John Wesley and Mary Lou (Baker) Carter.

Also preceding him in death was a brother, Sammie Carter and sister-in-law, Kathi White Carter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Taft Church of Christ. Oak Lawn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
