Valerie Gayle Turnage, 65 of Kalkaska, died April 25, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. She was born September 28, 1952 in Detroit the daughter of Donald and Virginia (Watkins) Miller. Valerie was a wonderful, kind person.

She loved cooking, decorating for the holidays and going to yard sales. She especially loved volunteering her time to help those in need and spending time with her grandchildren. Valerie was proud to have graduated from Dorsey School of Nursing.

Surviving are her children Jennifer (Karl) Berno of Clinton Twp. , Daniel Chester of Kalkaska, Ryan Chester of Williamsburg, her parents Donald and Virginia Miller of Mancelona, her grandchildren Joshua, Nathan, Karl, Justine, Gavin, Daniel, Ethan, Emmaleah, sisters Vicky Windish, Linda (Tom) Zografos, Laurie (Ralph) Earl, Dawn (Ed) Folisi and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband Daniel Chester, second husband Clifford Turnage, daughter Kimberly Chester and son Eric Chester.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona. Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.
