Carol Chenot, 61, of Elk Rapids passed away on May 21, 2018. Carol was born on February 18, 1957 in Birmingham to Maureen (O’Leary) and the late James E. Chenot. Carol graduated from Ernest W. Seaholm High School and then from cosmetology school following which she moved to Northern Michigan working in her own hair salon, daycare center at her home for many years as well as an assistant preschool teacher and a counselor for domestic violence at the Women’s Re Center in Traverse City.

She enjoyed spending her free time gardening and growing beautiful flowers, kayaking, cross country skiing and going to the beach. She loved being with her family and friends but her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two sons that she was extremely proud of. Carol is survived by her sons, Brandon Burry of Whitefish, Montana and Logan Schuler of Elk Rapids, mother, Maureen Chenot as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Chenot as well as her brother, James Chenot II. A visitation for Carol will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Java Jones, 131 River St, Elk Rapids, MI 49629. Immediately following visitation there will be a celebration of life service with hors d’oeuvres and beverages afterwards.

There will also be a sunset bonfire at Dam Beach that evening. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Traverse Health Clinic, 1719 S. Garfield Avenue, Traverse City, MI 49686. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
