Obituary for Valerie Truncale Valerie (Hunt) Truncale of Waldorf, Maryland went to meet her Savior on January 4, 2019. Valerie lived 75 years with love and devotion to Jesus Christ, her husband Joseph of 55 years, their three sons, and four grandchildren. Joe and Valerie are members of Fellowship Church in White Plains, Maryland.
Valerie served the Lord with gladness and enriched many with her generosity of spirit and love. She often gave her time to others and will be remembered by family, friends and neighbors for her dedication and kindness, her beautiful voice, and her extraordinary talent for crafting and cooking. Valerie was born in American Samoa on September 3rd, 1943, to Ned and Aifua Hunt.
She moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where she met Joseph Truncale while he was stationed at Hickam AFB. Joe and Valerie married in 1963 and raised their three sons in the Maryland suburbs, primarily in Mechanicsville. She taught Sunday School at Fellowship Church in White Plains, Maryland and worked at Bowling AFB as a daycare technician.
Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; three sons, Robert (Debbie), Peter, and Christopher; grandchildren, Amanda, Nathan, Alyssa, and Caden. As well, her brothers Eddie Hunt, Faasolo Tavai (Althea), and her sister Bernice Sullivan, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Valerie’s aiga was as large as her heart, and includes loved ones, brothers, sisters, and cousins across the mainland, and in her early homes of Pago Pago, American Samoa and Honolulu, Hawaii… she loved them all dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ned and Aifua. A viewing will be held at Fellowship Church (9805 Faith Baptist Church Rd. , White Plains, Maryland) on Monday, January 21st, 2019 at 9:30am -11:00am, followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00am, led by Pastor Marvin Harris.
Refreshments will follow the service at the church hall. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 at 1:30pm. at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland, 20623.
