VERGE WHITEHEAD, SR. November 06, 1928 – December 30, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Verge Whitehead Sr. was born November 6, 1928 in Beasley, Texas to the proud parents of Buford Whitehead and Pernella Hicks Whitehead-Jones. He met the love of his life Luddie Bell Qualls and on June 25, 1950 they were united in Holy Matrimony.
Verge worked as a Construction worker and was promoted to Building Site Supervisor to support his family. He united with New Life Missionary Baptist Church in 1959 where he served in ministry as Usher Board President, Vice President, Treasurer and was an active member until his health failed. His unfailing favorite scripture is Psalm 84:10: “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.
I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness”. On Sunday, December 30, 2018, he departed from this life to leave his cherished memories, his wife of 68 years Luddie Bell Qualls-Whitehead, 9 children: Pamela Haskins, Compton, CA; Bennie Ray Whitehead (Mary) of Hutto, TX, Verge Whitehead Jr., Vernon Level Whitehead, LaVerne Whitehead-Tyler, Patricia Ann Whitehead-Smith, B.W. Whitehead Sr., Katrena Rosena Whitehead-Douglas (Roosevelt), Pernella Sonda Kay Whitehead-Gant, all of Houston, TX, 18 Grand-Children, 28 Great Grand-Children, 1 Great-Grand Pup, 27 Great-Great Grand-Children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister Vera Whitehead Tyler-Rucker.
