Verlyn Duane Ferg, 92, of Appleton, died Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was born in Manawa on February 15, 1926, son of the late Otto and Leona (Kriese) Ferg. Verlyn married Edith “Jane” Van Dalman on March 16, 1969.

Verlyn and Jane celebrated 47 years of marriage before her death on June 6, 2016. Verlyn was a union carpenter until he retired in 1987 at the age of 61. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton.

He was also a member of the Appleton Evening Lions in which he had over fifty years of perfect attendance, Local 955 Carpenters Union, Midwest Chippers, Appleton YMCA, “Up Your Assets” Investment Club and his “Coffee Clutch” at the Golden Basket Restaurant. Verlyn loved to travel, visiting many different countries throughout the world. He also enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada.

Verlyn is survived by his two children: daughter, Marcia (Dennis) Jakubowski and son, Billy (Dawn) Ferg; five grandchildren: Matthew (Jill), Grant and Bradley Jakubowski, Melanie (David) Winter, Adam (Martine) Ferg; five great grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia and Victoria Winter, Emma and Isaac Ferg; and his sister: Carol (Wayne) Bergen. Funeral service for Verlyn will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 17 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Brian Bankert officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 until the 11:00 AM service. Entombment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park.
