Verna D. Scott, 71, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on July 20, 2018. Verna was born July 22, 1946 in Brookfield, Missouri to Clyde F. Kelsey and Helen N. Kelsey. Verna married Thurman Scott on December 12, 1969.

She became an LPN in 1985 and later went to school in 1990 to get her Associates degree and became an RN. She had a love for nursing. Every year she managed to get together with her high school classmates for a reunion.

Verna loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thurman “Charlie” Scott; her son, Brian Kelsey; her step-daughter, Theresa Scott; her son, Curtis Scott; her daughter, Tracie Lee Scott; her son, Jeffery Scott; and her grandson, Brandon Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Robert) Fenner; estranged step-daughter, Andrea Scott; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Teri (Michael) O’Neal; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 29th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, with a time to share memories at 3:00 pm, at Longview Funeral Home, 12700 S Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
