Vernon Eugene Hector, Sr., age 87, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of the late Julia “Judy” Hector, departed this life Monday evening, October 1, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett. A Funeral Service for Mr. Hector will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating.

He will be assisted by Bro. Jerry Boylan. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

A visitation for Mr. Hector will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland. Mr. Hector was born November 2, 1930 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

He received his education in Mississippi County, Arkansas and was employed as a utility worker for Ford Motor Company for many years, was a home improvement contractor and volunteer craftsman with Baptist Builders and worked with disaster relief and server during September 11, 2001. He was married June 4, 1949 to the former Julia V. “Judy” Hayles. Mr. Hector was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Hector is survived by his daughter, Linda Bayliff (Al) of Eads, TN; two sons, Dan Hector (Betsy) of Sun City Center, FL, Vernon Eugene Hector, Jr. (Annalee) of Vermilion, OH; his sister, Cynthia E. Darmasteater of Casper, WY; three brothers, Lyman E. Hector of Vermilion, OH, Charles E. Hector of Munford, TN, Freddie E. Hector of Millington, TN; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Julia V. “Judy” Hayles Hector who died March 21, 2016; his parents, James Harvey Hector and Bertha Evelyn Louder Hector; and three brothers, Lonnie Hector, James A. Hector and Leon Hector. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Richard Clark, John Benderman, Bob Dacus, Al Baycliff, Curtis Helms and Leo Walker.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, 17675 Highway 196, Eads, TN 38028.
