Vernon G. Adams, 65, of Greensburg, died due to ALS on Friday, June 15, 2018, at his home. He was born in Kittanning, PA, on September 26, 1952, a son of the late Vernon G. and Annabelle Helm Adams. He was a member of St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg.

A lifelong Lutheran, he was very active in the church and taught catechism and volunteered in youth ministry at Salem Lutheran in Delmont for many years prior to the family’s move to Greensburg, several years ago. Prior to retirement in 2015, he was a real estate agent. Vernon was an avid cyclist and biked in the Century Ride, in and around Italy, California vineyard country, Canadian Rockies and around Lake Champlain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Owen Graham Adams. Vernon is survived by his wife, Debra Erdley Adams; sons, Joshua Adams (Cathleen) of Hershey, PA and Rev. Jonathan Adams (Rebekah) of Davidsville; his five granddaughters, Allison, Emma, Olivia, Eleanor and Annabelle; brothers, David Adams (Pamela) and Allen Adams (Susie), both of Kittanning.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 3 to the hour of Vernon’s memorial service at 4 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association Western PA Chapter, 416 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209 or to Camp Lutherlyn, PO Box 355, Prospect, PA 16052.
