Vina “June” Walker June 24, 1933 – January 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Chopin, with Rev. Marc Noel serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends from 5 pm until 9 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7 pm on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Ms. Walker, 85 yrs. of age and a resident of Natchitoches La, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 24th, 1933 in Janie Louisiana (Chopin) to Frank Bynog and Laura Carnahan Bynog. She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Wilton Lucious Walker; Sister Ruby Vercher; infant sister Elizabeth Anne Bynog, Step-sister (Cousin) Dorothy Jean Lee Brossett and step-brother (Cousin) Douglas Lee. She is survived by her children Brad Russell Walker, Donna Patrice Kaminsky and husband John; Grandchildren Isaly Monica Almanza, Sarah Elizabeth Valdez and husband Jose (Niko) Valdez, Laura Michael Durr, Emee Renee Durr, Adam Russell Walker, Amber DeAnn Walker, Matthew Ryan Walker, Step-Grandson Michael Jason Kaminksy and wife Cherrie; step-brother (Cousin) Burl Dean Lee and wife Bobbie and her Sister-n-law Dorothy Mae Lee; fourteen Great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She worked in her younger years as a nurse at the Central State Hospital in Pineville La. She also worked at the Natchitoches Parish Health unit. She especially enjoyed her work as an office nurse for Dr. Robert Sills and always spoke so highly of him.

She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She loved her family, friends and many cousins dearly. She enjoyed singing, country and gospel music, and dancing.

She was always “on the go” and enjoyed staying active and spending time with her family and friends. She was a “caretaker” at heart and was always there to care and help her family and friends and anyone in need. She shared a special bond with her first cousin “Bonnie’ and enjoyed the time they spent together.

She always had a smile; even during her illness, she would always manage a smile for her family, friends, and caretakers. She loved all animals and especially loved her “cats”. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Lee, Douglas Dwayne Lee, Adam Walker, Graham Hobbs, Quebe Queen, and Matthew Walker.

Honorary pallbears will be Mike Edwards and Charles Brossett. The family would like to take this opportunity to express its appreciation to the ER staff, ICU nursing staff and the staff of LTC extended care (4th floor) at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, also, Hospice of Natchitoches, Dr. Brian Picou Jr., and Dr. William Ball. A special appreciation and thanks to the loving staff at Natchitoches Courtyard where they took such wonderful care of her.
