Viola Nadine Fisher August 20, 1932 – January 30, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Viola Nadine Fisher, 86, Waverly, died at her home on January 30, 2019. Viola was born on August 20, 1932, northeast of Waverly, to Perry H. and Wanda Belle Sorenson Phillips. Viola worked at the Waverly Telephone Office and the office of Dr. Johnson before graduating from Waverly High School in 1950.

After graduation, she worked at the First National Bank in Waverly for five years. On May 30, 1951, she married Carl B. “Junior” Fisher in Hutchinson. When she had her children, she became a stay at home mom.

She sold Avon and worked for ECKAN. She started selling baked goods to help financially and had quite a business. She had worked in the Waverly Grade School cafeteria.

She worked for Ken’s IGA for over 20 years and retired in 1996. Junior died on May 3, 1997. On March 15, 1999, she married Gene Roney.

Gene died on October 22, 2014. Viola was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waverly, the Legion Auxiliary and the former Homemakers Club. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cheryl Ann Stefan, and a sister, Dorothy Giffin.

Viola is survived by her sons, Bryan and his wife Darlys, Collinsville, OK, and Jeff and his wife Kim, Waverly, a sister, Marcella Chapman, Waverly, six grandchildren, Derek Stefan, Ryan (Erica) Stefan, Kandis (Josh) Poovey, Bren (Rachelle) Fisher, Chelsea (Raymond) Zilliox, and Taylor Fisher. Nine great grandchildren, Reese, Adelyn and Emma Stefan, Titus and Eli Poovey, Bryson Fisher, and Aubree and Carson Zilliox, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Waverly United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., at the church. Burial will be in the Waverly Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent to Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
