Virginia Belle Reid Virginia Reid, 94, of Independence, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 1:00 Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church 3371 Blue Ridge Blvd, Independence, MO 64052. Virginia was born September 14, 1924 to Maude Boone Prock and Ewing Prock in Almartha, Missouri.

She graduated from Ava High School. She was a bookkeeper for Manley Popcorn and other companies for 40 years. Virginia was a member of Susquehanna Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Organization, serving in women’s ministry.

Virginia enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and baking. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, Peyton McClain, Brennen McClain, Sean Gillespie, and Connor Gillespie. She is survived by her son, Robert Reid of Independence, MO; her daughter Janet Reid of Independence, MO; her granddaughter Heidi Garrett-McClain of Independence, MO whom she raised as a daughter; her granddaughters Laura, Amy, and Sara Dizney of Florida; her granddaughter Megan Reid of Pennsylvania; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roscoe Reid, her daughter Connie Garrett, her mother, Maude, her father, Ewing; her brothers Boone and George; and her sisters Else and Alta. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to www. marchofdimes.org.
