Roy’s Obituary Roy L. Johnson, age 74, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on February 17, 2019, the day before his 75th birthday, at Redwood of Kansas City South. Roy was born on February 18, 1944 in Pineville, Louisiana to his parents, Jack Johnson and Odell Johnson. He was one of two children, having an older sister whom he loved dearly.

Roy spent a lot of his early years in Chicago, attending Ellen Mitchell Elementary and graduating from Harlan High School. It was in 1975 that he made a home in Kansas City. He married his second wife Helen (Smith) Johnson in 1976 and together spent many happy years together before her passing.

Roy worked as a salesman for a network marketing company, LegalShield, and was very successful. You could often find Roy making friends with strangers, or out and about walking around. He was a known as a man who knew no stranger and would find a way to make anyone a friend of his.

People would often joke that Roy knew everyone in Kansas City. Aside from being incredibly personable, Roy was also known as a “health-nut”. He enjoyed being active and walking, as well as having some wheat grass here and there.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his children: sons Marcus Johnson (Theresa), Eugene Tiebout (Charmain), Andre Tiebout and Christopher Tiebout (Rebecca), daughters Karen Johnson, Katrina King (Brian), sister Lydia Ogletree, half-sister Audrey Basell, two nieces: Chanelle Bonaparte and Kantrice Ogletree, one nephew: David Ogletree who preceded him in death, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two great nieces, two great nephews as well as many dear friends and family from Kansas City and Chicago.
