Virginia “Ginny” Marguerite Funk, age 93, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, Montana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach with Father Dan Berg officiating.

A Rite of Committal will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements. Ginny was born on February 20, 1925 to James and Louise (Knutson) Lacey in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She was raised in Bismarck, North Dakota attending St. Mary’s High School, graduating with the class of 1944. Ginny met Anton “Tony” Funk and they were united in marriage on November 26, 1952 in Bismarck. They celebrated sixty-three years together.

She worked as a secretary for the VA at the Japanese Internment Camp at Fort Abraham Lincoln and formed many lasting friendships. Ginny and Tony lived in several areas until moving to Beach in 1960. Ginny was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She enjoyed reading, coffee with her friends and going for rides. Another pastime included playing cards with her son, Rick. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents, James and Louise; a sister, Monica Fischer; a brother, Bob Lacey and an infant sister, Barbara Lacey.

Ginny is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Doug) Meek of Beach and their children, Chris (Heather), Keaton, Jaret, Brehea Meek and Stacey (Daron) Knodel and their sons, Thomas and Drake; her daughter, Susan (Paul) Bogner of Dickinson, North Dakota and their children, Ryan and Daniel; her son, Steve Funk of Bismarck and his son, Michael; her son, Rick Funk of Dickinson; a sister, Mary Lou Gleich; a sister-in-law, Carol Lacey and numerous nephews and nieces.
