Vivian Ann Langley passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2018 surrounded by family after a 27-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her mother, Betty Ward of Fort Deposit, brothers, Lee (Ann) Langley of Buford, GA, Alan (Kathy) Langley of Fort Deposit, Gordon (Beth) Ward of Montgomery, Bill (Glenda) Ward of Valdosta, GA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Max Lamar Langley, and her father, Max Langley.

Vivian was born in Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from Lee High School. She then went to the University of Alabama where she received a B.S. in Education and played basketball and volleyball. She continued her education at the University of Mississippi where she received a Master’s Degree in Education.

For the last eight years, Vivian worked in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University as a Director of Development. Prior to coming to Auburn, she was a Major Gifts Officer in the department of athletics at the University of Minnesota, Director of Membership Services for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Assistant Volleyball Coach at the University of Minnesota, General Manager of the New York Liberties of Major League Volleyball, Director of Operations for volleyball at the University of Florida, Head Volleyball and Softball Coach at Mississippi State University. Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, Alabama on Wednesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Myrtlewood Cemetery in Fort Deposit, Alabama.

Reverend Robert (Bob) Blackwell will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Auburn University Foundation, earmarked for the College of Liberal Arts at the following address: Office of Development 317 Biggin Hall Auburn, AL 36849 Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home and Crematory directing. www.
