On the morning of May 4, 2019, our COWBOY took his last ride. William Judd Ericson was born on June 15, 1943 to John William & Marjorie Rydalch Ericson. Daddy fought a valiant and courageous battle with cancer to the very end.

He was a man who met many people and became friends with them all. He was a generous man that was always willing to help anyone out and never told anyone no. Judd followed the rodeo circuit in his younger years, from there he began working for Vista Liner is 1963.

Judd also worked for the National Forest Service in 1964, then went to work for the Tooele Valley Railroad, from there he was a Semi Truck Driver, driving coast to coast. Judd worked many years for Tooele City and was Foreman for the city streets, but Judd’s passion was when he became a Tooele County Deputy. He was offered a position at Getty Mine as a security officer, which he took and worked there for a short time.

He went back to the Sheriff’s Office and was a Deputy on the county roads, then was promoted to Lead Detective. The State Medical Examiner asked Judd to be the M.E. for Tooele County, he accepted the position and even had his daughter, Lynette, working with him until he retired in 2006. Dad knew Tooele County like the back of his hand, and there isn’t a mountain range he couldn’t describe.

His knowledge of the county was an asset to the Search & Rescue to which he was a life long member. Judd married June Darlene Sturtevant on June 12, 1964, and later divorced. From this union they had three beautiful children, Lynette, Lisa and Will.

Judd also was a papa to Montana, Jagger and Elissah. His love for his kids and grandkids had no end. Dad loved rodeos, branding trips to Ibapah at the Hick’s Ranch and in Ekalaka, Montana where his cousin owns a ranch.

He loved to tool leather, hunt arrow heads, ride his horses and farm. Dad had a passion for music and played guitar that began at a young age. He never read music but played by ear, he taught his son the passion for the guitar, and they would play together at home.

He played at many bars and pool halls and many other functions. He played with a band called the Midnight Cowboys and the Teepee Creepers. Spending time with his family was the most important to him.

His grandkids loved to be with their papa, always learning new jokes and how to ride horses, also dying a raw egg at Easter. They were his pride and joy! Judd was a man who was loved by many, a great friend and neighbor to all.

Judd is survived by his Daughters; Lynette (Ticky) Gordon, Lisa (Peter) Buzianis, and his Son; Will Ericson. His grandkids Montana (Austin) Wagstaff-Buzianis, Jagger Chiles and Elissah Ericson. Great Grandson Maverick John Wagstaff-Buzianis.

Brothers; Dale Rydalch Ericson and Butch Niesporek. Best Buddies; Binks the cat and Skeeter his loyal dog.
