Wallace “Sonny” Rohrer, 81 of Alanson, died May 19, 2018 at his home. Sonny was born on June 25, 1936 in Petoskey, the son of Wallace and Vergie (Davidson) Rohrer and was raised in Alanson, attending Alanson Schools. Sonny served his country in the US Army and following his honorable discharge, he later received his Masters in Plumbing and Heating and owned and operated W. Rohrer & Sons Plumbing and Heating for many years.

On August 16, 1958, Sonny married the love of his life, Arlene Goldsmith, and together they made their home in Alanson where Sonny proudly served on the Fire Department for 25 years. Sonny enjoyed a whole list of summer and winter activities with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene; daughters, Margaret Sprague (companion, Martin Maylowski) of Indian River, Karen (Stephen) Whittaker of Walloon Lake, and Joan Foster of Alanson; sons, Jerry (Connie) Rohrer of Alanson and Louis (Cindy) Rohrer of Harbor Springs; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jeffery Sprague; and by 5 siblings. A graveside committal will take place at the Alanson Littlefield Township Cemetery on June 9th at 10:30am with Chaplin David Tuggle officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sheryl Goodrich and Mandi Moore for the wonderful care that Sonny and the family received.
