Smith, 88, of Slanesville, WV passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Unit of Kearneysville, WV. Born on September 27, 1930 in Slanesville, WV, he was the son of the late Marshall Smith and Velma (Alkire) Smith. Wallace worked for Hampshire County Schools as a bus driver.

He also worked in timber and was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jenene P. Portmess Smith on March 9, 2016, three brothers, Durane, Voyne, and Odell Smith and two sisters, Mavis Potter and Eva Collis.

Surviving is a son, Steven W. Smith of Romney, two daughters, Patricia J. Holliday of Slanesville, Deborah Ann Wardrope of PA, a brother, Jerry Smith of Slanesville, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, WV with Ansel Peer, Minister and Delwin Michael, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Mt.

Union Cemetery, Paw Paw, WV. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home of Augusta, WV.
