Obituary for Walter K. Wilson RITTMAN – Walter K. Wilson, 89, of Rittman, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Hospice of Medina County surrounded by family following a brief illness. He was born on May 26, 1929, in Rittman to the late Kenneth and Kyle (Dawson) Wilson and was a lifelong resident of Rittman. Walter served his country as a U.S. Army veteran, then came home and worked as a boilermaker for the Local 744 in Cleveland for 45 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a lifelong member of the Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene, and also attended Rittman Community FreeWill Baptist Church. He loved his family and his grandchildren could do no wrong. He loved collecting guns, riding 4-wheelers, and most of all spending time with his family at his hunting cabin in Oswayo, PA.
He also enjoyed hunting and taking people out to eat. He was very witty and always had a lot of funny sayings. Walter had many friends and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Naomi (Fowler), whom he married on August 14, 1995 in Wadsworth; his son Allen (Vicki) Wilson of Wadsworth; daughters Peggy (Keith) Ramsier of Sterling, Bonita (Les) McMillan of Creston, and Brenda (Mark) Pockell of New Hampshire; grandchildren Craig, Kevin, Alyssa, Erica, Sarah, Shaun, Eric, Kyle, Michael, Brian, Zac, Cory, and Stacy; 14 great grandchildren; step-children Audrey Morris of CA, Jerry (Pam) Hilbers of MI, Alice Dunmire of MI, Susan (Jim) Margarit of NM, and Bill Dunmire of Creston; 9 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Rose and Joan Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his caregiver Pat Baran. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Wilson in 1994; son Denny Wilson; grandson Aaron Wilson; his parents; brothers John, Ralph, Bernie, Frank, Jim, Bob, and Dave; and sisters May Hensen and Janice Book. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene, 743 High St., Wadsworth, with Pastor John Castle officiating.
Burial with military honors will take place at Rittman Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-7pm on Thursday, July 5, at Rittman Community FreeWill Baptist Church, 346 N. Main St., Rittman, or from 10-11am on Friday morning at Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene. Auble-Gillman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
