Obituary for Walter Spencer Coleman Rev. Walter Spencer Coleman, 93, of Lexington, NC, died peacefully on May 15, 2018. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9AM at the Salisbury National Cemetery at 501 Statesville Ave.

, Salisbury NC. Walter was born on March 10, 1925 in New York, New York to the late Francis Coleman and Margaret Elizabeth Stokes Coleman. He served in the US Army during World War II in the 614 Tank Destroyer Battalion and retired from New York City Transit where he was a train conductor.

After moving to North Carolina, he worked for the Lexington Post Office before deciding to fulfill his dream of becoming a minister. He served for many years as minister of the First Congregational Church in Troy, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and his beloved daughter, Ruth Coleman.

He is survived by his son, Paul Coleman, grandchildren, great grandchildren, special nieces and nephews and caring friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Service.
