Wanda I. Derr, 78, of Watsontown, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center with her family by her side. Born November 24, 1939 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred L., Sr. and Nellie V. (Whitmoyer) Camp. On October 17, 1969 she married Ronald S. Derr and they have celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Wanda was a 1957 graduate of Montoursville High School where she was a member of the Future Homemakers of America and won several awards. She retired from the US Postal Service having worked at the Washingtonville Post Office for many years. She was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, McEwensville and was vice-president of their consistory.

She was an active member for more than ten years and past-president of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, having established the November free meal for the community at the Turbotville Community Hall. She enjoyed reading, collecting lighthouses and mugs, baking for her family and had written a book. Surviving besides her husband, Ronald Derr, is a daughter, Wendy A. Derr and a granddaughter, Shelby L. Derr, both of Watsontown; two brothers: Wilfred L. Camp, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Montoursville and Michael L. Camp of Williamsport; a sister, Arlene M. Shemory and her husband William of Milton; a longtime best friend, Linda A. Stamets of Montgomery; and she was a “second mother” to Connie M. Crocker of Turbotville.

Friends and family are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 2 Susquehanna Trail, McEwensville where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 PM with Pastor Boyd Carney officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the church social hall following the service and burial will be held later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Wanda’s memory be made to either her church at PO Box 129, McEwensville, PA 17749 or Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Delaware Twp.
