OBITUARY Wanda Louise Smedley August 20, 1940 – January 12, 2019 Wanda L. Smedley, age 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 12, 2019. She was born on August 20, 1940, in Cornell, Wisconsin, to Edwin and Bessie Pooler. Growing up in rural Wisconsin, she experienced everything from logging to farm life.

Her family moved to central Arizona, where the heat of the desert sun helped forge her strong, outspoken, and spirited nature. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wallace Smedley, in 1959. They shared a love that persevered the ups and downs of a 50 year romance.

Together, they raised four children and moved to Austin, Texas, in 1976. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies including embroidery, ceramics, music, and doll collecting. She found her greatest joy as a homemaker, mother, and grandmother.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Smedley, in 2009. She is survived by her daughters Robin (Linda), Barbara (Richard); sons Hank (Karla), Wallace, Jr. (Daisy); granddaughters Josephine, nad Yssabella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.

The funeral service will be conducted at 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home followed by a graveside service in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
