Wayne E. Rooks, 79, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on June 19, 2018 at home. Wayne was born on July 22, 1938 in Mt. Leonard, Missouri to Jim and Sarah Rooks.

Wayne married Gay Griffitt on November 16, 1958 at Blue Lick Union Church in rural Marshall, MO. He served in the United States Air Force, where he was honorably discharged. After his service, Wayne held a variety of occupations which resulted in many abilities, but he finished his career in HVAC/R where he owned Wayne’s Heating and Air in Lee’s Summit.

He enjoyed CB Radios during their popularity and had the handle, “Blue Boy”. Wayne will be remembered for keeping himself busy with a variety of hobbies and interests, although he had a love for bowling. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Rooks; his grandson, Christopher Willard Whiteman; his brother, Jim H. Rooks, Jr. and his sister, Margaret Ann.

He is survived by his wife, Gay Rooks; his children: Darryl W. Rooks, Toby R. (Misty) Rooks, Kimberly G. (Brad) Beckenhauer, and Karen E. Whiteman; his grandchildren: Jacob Rooks, Jesse Rooks, Johnathan Whiteman, Amber Whiteman, Mason Beckenhauer, and Rachel Beckenhauer; one great-grandchild, Deklan Rooks; and his brother, Charles “Chuck” W. Rooks. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 9:30 – 10:30 am, with a funeral service beginning at 10:30 am, all at Abundant Life Church: Administrative Building, 304 SW Persels Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081. Interment will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, MO at 2:15 pm with military honors.
