WAYNE JOSEPH SAZAMA, age 72, of Round Lake, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Adrian Country Living Cottages. He was born on December 20, 1946, in Oklahoma. Wayne was raised on the farm near Round Lake by his parents, A.A. and Mary Rose (Warmka) Sazama.

He graduated from Round Lake High School. He entered the United States Army on November 8, 1965. He served his country in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged on November 7, 1971.

Wayne married Jane Ann Schroer on June 6, 1970 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. The couple farmed northeast of Round Lake. Wayne worked as a cookie delivery driver part time for Sather Cookie Company until he took over farming full time.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington, and loved attending St. Adrian Catholic Church. He was a fifty year member of the Round Lake American Legion Charles Flentje Post #461; the Round Lake Elevator Board serving as President in 1984; and Secretary/Treasurer of the Round Lake Sportsman Club for over twenty five years. Wayne enjoyed deer, pheasant and duck hunting.

He also enjoyed fishing of all kinds especially halibut fishing in Alaska. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jane Sazama, Round Lake; three sons, Anthony Sazama, Round Lake; Edward Sazama, Round Lake; and James (Jessica) Sazama, Windsor, CO; eight grandchildren, Ian, Shae, Christopher, Macy, Megan and Patrick Sazama; and Summer and Daly Kruger; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Amelia, Mason, Connor and Daisy; two sisters, Bernadete (Ray) Bleess, Okabena; and Kathy Grassmann, Chaska; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Mark Sazama.

A time of fellowship will be from 4-7 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday at the St. Adrian Catholic Church, in Adrian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. Full military honors will be provided by the Round Lake American Legion.
