Wayne J. Savoie, 60, of Es, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, December 9, 2018, after complications of an illness. Wayne was born in Beverly, MA on February 10, 1958, the son of the late Claude J. and Marjorie A. (Cooney) Savoie. He lived in Middleton until the move to Es at the age of three, and he loved the move and grew to love this special community.

He graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1976. He lived here and he worked here. The Es River became his livelihood and he was a clam digger from a very young age until he found his passion in swordfishing.

Wayne fished for 10 years with his brother David on such boats as the Sarah T and the Gannet. He loved to fish and was a very good swordfish fisherman. Wayne enjoyed any and all sports.

He played several and viewed all! He also enjoyed his own gardening. Wayne had an infectious sense of humor.

His family loved his humor and he will be sorely missed. Wayne is survived by his beloved daughter, Michel W. Savoie and his precious granddaughter, Angelina S., both of Lynn, MA; his stepdaughter Sami Moreta; his brother, David and his wife Bonnie, and a niece, Megan, all of Es; his sister, Rhonda J. Savoie of Gloucester, along with a niece, Jessica (Mcgrath) Koch, of Byfield, MA. and a nephew, Jared Mcgrath of Es, MA.

In keeping with his wishes, there are no visiting hours. His memorial mass will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Church, 52 Main St. Es, MA on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. His burial will be held privately.

Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester, MA.
