Wendy, 55, passed away on November 18, 2018 at Huntsman Cancer Institute surrounded by family. She was born on June 6, 1963 in Provo to Carol Eves and Gary Giles. Wendy married John Armstrong on November 12, 1988 at her father’s house in Sandy.

Wendy was a strong and giving woman. She loved working at AP&P Corrections where she attained the position of support services coordinator working with her two best friends Brent Butcher and Geri Miller Fox. While working at corrections, through cancer treatments, and being a mother of 6 she took online classes to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

She always wanted to show her kids they could do anything they put their minds to regardless of the obstacles. She was so proud of all her kids. She loved her family and put her family above all else.

Christmas was her favorite holiday because she loved giving and seeing the joy she could provide for her family and those in need. She enjoyed family vacations and always made it a point to make it to any of her kid’s performances or sports events. She will always be there number one fan.

She enjoyed the outdoors, swimming, reading, writing, fishing, sewing, music, piano, movies and anything that could make her laugh. She believed in the best of people no matter what. She was the most positive, generous, and caring person even in the worst times.

She was a wonderful grandmother to her 5 grandkids of whom she cherished. She was an inspiration to other cancer patients, nurses, and doctors at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. They had no idea she would be the strongest and kindest patient they’d ever have.

She was first told that she only had 6 months to live when she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. However, after two bone marrow transplants, chemo, radiation, and lots of time spent in the hospital she did go into remission and live an additional 8 years. She could always make a friend anywhere she went.

She was the best mother anyone could ask for. She will be missed dearly. She will always be a hero and inspiration to her kids and family.

She is survived by her husband, John; parents, Gary & Shirley, Carol & David; siblings, Troy & Jill, Brian & Jenny, Dawn & Larry, Kenneth & Bernice, Amanda & Pat, David & Carissa; children, Jeremy, Michael & Lexi, Marci & Chris, Vicki, Shantelle & Marc, Cameron; grandchildren, Serenity, Aibree, Phoenix, Isabella, Liam; many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, and Uncles. There will be a viewing held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale Utah on Monday, November 26th, 2018 from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m., followed by funeral services from 2 – 3 pm. Graveside services will be held at Sandy Cemetery, 9000 S 700 E, Sandy, Utah following the funeral services.

The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, that donations are made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Wendy’s name.
