Wilbur Rudolph “Pee Wee” Matthews, 65, died early Saturday morning , May 4, 2019, after an illness. Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Monday, May 6, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home of Buddy Matthews, 2795 McAllister Mill Road, Scranton.

“Pee Wee” was born on October 9, 1953, in Florence County, son of the late William Rudolph Matthews and Carinel Miles Matthews. He worked in construction and was an automotive paint and body technician for most of his life and most recently worked on the daily operations on the Ham Farm. “Pee Wee” enjoyed the river and boat racing and was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast.

Surviving are his brother, Charles “Buddy” Matthews of Scranton; nieces and nephews, Candy Springs (Craig) Morris of Kingstree, Scotty (Stephanie) Lee, Cameron Matthews, Bradley Matthews, Shannon (Richard) Ham, all of Coward, Denton Matthews of Charleston, and Sandy (Tommy) Rauch of Scranton; and a number of great nieces and nephews. “Pee Wee” was preceded in death by a sister, Helen “Fluggie” Humphries; brother, Carol “Mutt” Matthews.
