Obituary for Willard Ardell Brenning Willard Ardell Brenning, Sr. 88, of International Falls, Minnesota died on Thursday, June 21, 2018, surrounded by his family at the Essentia –St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. Willard was born on June 3, 1930 at Mayville, North Dakota. As a young child the family moved to the Loman area where he grew up.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Korea Theater of War. After the service he returned home, moving to International Falls in 1954. Willard was united in marriage to the former Caroline Charnley on December 23, 1952 in International Falls.

He worked for Boise Cascade as a machine operator for thirty three years. He enjoyed hunting deer and partridge, fishing, and camping. He was a sports fan of the Vikings, Twins, Wild and the Timberwolves.

He loved dancing, traveling with his family, and woodworking. He liked watching westerns and reading western novels. He was a member of the V.F.W. and First Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; parents, Edward and Alma Brenning; brother, Evereth Brenning and sister, Helen Brenning. Willard is survived by his son, Willard Ardell (Helen) Brenning, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Dorothy Alma (Virgil) Olson of International Falls; six grandchildren, Wesley, Cherie, Amanda, Caroline, Crysta, and Christopher; eight great-grandchildren, Robert, Kylee, Cael, Elsa, Saul, Miles, Ronin and Maria. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at Green-Larsen Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with full military rights. Interment will be in the V.F.
