Willard Leo Hulme, 75, of Waterloo, formerly of Reinbeck, died Thursday, June 14th at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Memorial visitation for Willard will be held on Monday, June 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 11:00 AM at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.

Following services, a private family inurnment will take place at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Cedar Valley Hospice Home, 2101 Kimball Ave. , Waterloo, Iowa 50702.

Willard was born on July 1, 1942 in Reinbeck, the son of Wilmer & Dala (Staker) Hulme. He graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1960 and on July 1, 1965, Willard married Diane Rose. The couple later divorced.

Willard worked for Standard Distribution for 16 years, Red Baron for 2 years, and later retired from Robert’s Dairy after 15 years of service. He also owned and operated Willie’s Place in Reinbeck. He enjoyed trips to Meskwaki and Isle of Capri Casinos, visiting his kids and grandkids, and will dearly miss his 2 cats, Pudgy & Kitty Hulme.

He is survived by his daughter Tempest (Robbie) Nelson of Waterloo and sons Bill (Trish) Hulme of Waterloo and Brett Hulme (partner Mo Schreiber) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren Austin, Brody, Tate, Quinn & Avaree Hulme and Chase Nelson; and his former wife Diane. Willard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Louis Hulme and sisters Elizabeth Block & Gleva Kreman. Willard’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Cedar Valley Hospice Home staff for their compassionate and attentive care they provided their father during his stay.
