Willard Pearson, 79, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green after spending the day with his wife and children by his side. Willard was born July 26, 1939 to the late Ernest Greaton Pearson and Bertha Mae Mays Pearson and was the oldest of seven children. He was a 1958 graduate of Allen County High School and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1962 with a degree in Engineering.

Willard married Faye Miller in 1962-they were married 56 years and had 4 children. Willard accepted a position with the Bureau of Reclamation which was part of the department of the interior upon graduation and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he lived for 17 years. He then transferred within the Bureau to be the Assistant Project Manager of Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State.

After 37 years of service with the Federal Government, he retired back to his home roots in Scottsville,Ky where he found happiness in piddling on the farm, riding on a tractor or doing for others. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and Allen County Cattlemen’s Association.

Willard had a twinkle in his eye that reflected the joy he found in the excitement of life and all the sight seeing it had to offer. Preceding his passing, he traveled out West to visit with his 4 children, 8 grandchildren and all those who touched his life along the way. However, he left us touching ours…as a loving husband, teaching father, affectionate grandfather, caring brother, talker to all and listener to many.

He will be missed. He is survived by his wife: Faye Miller Pearson, Scottsville, KY; 3 sons: Matthew Pearson (Karen Ortolani), Salt Lake City, UT; Keith Pearson (Rachelle), Spokane, WA and Joshua Pearson, Scottsville, KY; 1 daughter: Kelley Pearson, Phoenix, AZ; 1 brother: Kenneth Pearson, Pewee Valley, KY; 4 sisters: Dorthy Pearson, Bowling Green, KY; Mary Sledge, Malinda Stinson and Ramona Arterburn, all of Scottsville, KY; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by 1 brother: Michael Pearson. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Goad Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 7:00 A.M. Friday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Gideons. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.

A special thank you to his primary caregiver and son: Joshua Pearson, who has been a blessing to his mother and siblings; to the caregivers at the Medical Center and Greenview Regional Hospital, and to Dr. Grover Dils, Dr. Matthew Rutter, Dr. Vidya Seshadri and Dr. Richard McGahan for their compassion and expertise in extending his time with us. To all the family and friends who provided prayers and support to keep his spirits high, we are grateful.
