OBITUARY William Arthur Middleton July 22, 1943 – November 24, 2018 Columbia – A memorial service for William Arthur Middleton, 75, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. and following the service at the church in the Gathering Hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel is assisting the family.

Mr. Middleton passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Charles Connelly Middleton and Delle Inabinet Middleton. He was a graduate of Dreher High School and attended the University of South Carolina.

He married Sheila Sargent on January 12, 1964 and in 1966, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he served for six years. He retired from the S.C. Highway Department as a civil engineer in 1994 after 31 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he was a consultant with Wilbur Smith Associates Inc. and Paul Rod.

Bill was an avid Gamecock fan and talented drummer who played with the bands “Southbound” as well as “Remember When”. Mr. Middleton was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and a former member and deacon at Arsenal Hill & Faith Presbyterian. Bill was a “fix it” man who took great care of his family and others.

Bill was a devoted father to his children and mentored the youth as a little league baseball coach at Seven Oaks Park. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his life. His love for all of them was unwavering.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Sheila, are his children, Kim Easley (Steve), Todd Middleton, Kristie Cornelius (David); grandchildren, Shawn, Alex, and Cole Easley, and Kaleigh and Zachary Cornelius. He is also survived by four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Middleton.
