William J. Shramek Age 93, of Burlington passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at his residence. He was born August 14, 1925 to William and Josephine (nee Krumpeck) Shramek in Chicago, IL. His early life was spent in Chicago and Bensenville, IL where he graduated from high school.

He attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign receiving his degree in Airport Management. Bill served his country in the Navy from 1943 thru 1946 and continued his service by being involved in… Read More » the VFW and American Legion, wherever he was residing. On September 10, 1966 he was united in marriage to Patricia Anne Reilly in Libertyville, IL.

Following their marriage they resided in Milwaukee, WI, Binghamton, NY, and then Villa Park, IL for 48 years, before moving to Burlington in 2017. Bill worked for various airlines; Slick Airways, American Airlines, Flying Tigers and WTC Air in air freight forwarding. He was a pilot of single engine planes and he loved to fly.

Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Patricia, children: Barbara (Matthew) Babcock, John (Rebecca) Shramek and Nancy (Kevin) Urbani, grandchildren: Mikayla Babcock, Avery & Will Shramek and Andrew & Josephine Urbani. He is further survived by his sister Josephine (Gene) Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jacqueline Sontheimer, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to The American Cancer Society or to The American Heart Association. Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00AM, at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00AM until 11:00AM, at the funeral home. Burial will take place, at a later date, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.
