William M. “Bill” Stubbs, age 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Parkside Villa Rehabilitation Facility in Middleburg Hts. He was born in Byesville, proud of his Barnesville roots, and lived in over 60 residencies over the years. For the past 15 years, Bill and his wife, Lee lived in Ridgefield in North Ridgeville.

Bill served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He enjoyed attending the annual UDT reunions. He owned and operated Stubbs and Associates in Middleburg Hts.

since 1956. Bill always stayed on the cutting edge of technology and was a pioneer in the use of computers in insurance sales. He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table; founding member of the National Navy UDT- SEAL Museum in Ft.

Pierce, Florida; a social member of Columbia Hills Country Club; longtime member of Elyria Country Club and Catawba Island Club. He was a member of Underwater Demolition Team 3 (UDT-3), which was the WWII precursor to today’s Navy Seals. At his retirement, he had earned the rank of Battalion Commander.

He enjoyed playing racquetball and won the Senior Olympics in St. Louis. He was an avid golfer and loved boating on his 45-foot boat “Southwind”. Bill and Lee travelled extensively and saw the world.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Marian “Lee” (nee Fulk) Stubbs; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Murphy of Strongsville; former son-in-law, Bruce Murphy of Strongsville; grandchildren, Kevin Blackburn (Sddita), Scott Blackburn, Molly Murphy, William “Bill” Murphy (Megan), Margaret “Maggie” Murphy; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Addilyn Blackburn, William “Liam”, Norah and Lucas Murphy and brother, John (Carol) Stubbs of Escondido, California. He was preceded in death by his father Maynard Stubbs; mother, Charlotte Stubbs Cheffy; daughter, Lisbeth “Lis” Blackburn and son-in-law, Douglas Blackburn. Friends may call Sunday from 2PM until the time of services at 4PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd.

, North Ridgeville. Barbara Habecker, celebrant, will officiate. The US Navy in conjunction with North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 will conduct military honors.
