William Cline Robertson, 100, of Barrington, was born on February 20, 1918 in Goreville, IL to Akillis and Dellia (nee Layoms) Robertson. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Cary. William enjoyed travelling with his family.

Throughout his life, he was a self-employed truck driver. Some of his passions included enjoying a good meal, being out in the yard, doing mechanical work, and watching his sons’ drag race. He mentored and participated in his sons’ trucking businesses.

One of his main attributes was giving help to those who needed it. William is survived by his children, Shirl (Tom) Van Diggelen, Dave (Laura) Robertson, Jess (Sue) Robertson, and Jenny (Dave) Fuss; and his grandchildren, Bill Robertson, Stephanie Robertson, Kristen (Steve) Schmaling, and Amy Robertson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (nee Dunn) Robertson; his nine siblings; and his parents.

A visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. , Crystal Lake. A funeral service will take place at 10am, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the funeral home, proceeding to Windridge Memorial Park in Cary for committal.
