William Dailey (Doc, Bill) age 84, of 5223 Carriage Drive Circle, Charlotte joined the heavenly choir on Wednesday, February, 27, in the presence of his loving family. Born on June 25, 1934 in Canyon City, Colorado. Bill had a long and varied music career.

He served for six years in the US Army Chorus at Ft. Myer, VA. He has taught at Texas Wesleyan, various public schools in New York City, CPCC and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where in 1971 he received the NCNB Teacher of Excellence Award.

He was most proud of his innovative and dynamic music appreciation curriculum that emphasized music listening skills and encouraged students to open their ears and hearts to all styles of music. From 1969-1972 he played viola in the Charlotte Symphony. For twelve years he was music director of Carolina Voices which presents “The Singing Christmas Tree”.

As a composer and arranger, Bill has over thirty choir anthems published. He has also had considerable experience in the field of jazz, as conductor, singer, pianist, bassist, trombonist, and drummer. Bill received his PhD in Music from Catholic University (Washington, DC.

) If you are fortunate to hear Bill with The Holiday Singers, you can expect a holiday joke or two to be mixed in. His legacy and love will be carried in the hearts and voices of students and colleagues. Survived by his lovely and talented wife of 60 years, Eleanor and their four children and their spouses; Bruce (Donna), Gwen (Ian), Chris (Lanor) and Scott (Kate); twelve grandchildren (preceded in death by Jonathan Dailey) and five great grandchildren.

He is further survived by his church family as Resurrection Church, a church he had been a part of for many years. Memorial Services are being planned and will be announced when finalized.
